Day 5: Elias Chacour in Ibillin, and Nazareth

Elias Chacour

Our morning started with a trek out to Ibillin, the location of the Mar Elias School. We had the honor of meeting with
founder and peacemaker, Elias Chacour. Abu Chacour is archbishop in the Melkite Church--an eastern rite Catholic community. He is also dedicated to peaceful reconciliation between Jews and Palestinians. The school he founded serves thousands of children from all faiths and
ethnicities in the region.

Nazareth

We then traveled to the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth where we
viewed great artwork from around the world depicting the Virgin Mary. Also, the church was built around an archeological site from ancient Nazareth (which was a tiny, hilly, rocky village).
